Service providing
3D laser scanning - Special Works - Training and assistance

ATM3D is specialized in the implementation of high density surveying (lidar, terrestrial, static or mobile) and in the development of applications using this new type of measurement.

The company gathers land surveyors, geotechnicians and geologists.

With considerable experience in Cultural Heritage, Geology, Civil Work, our engineers provide for solutions to a wide range of mapping and surveying requirements : landslide or rock fall models, road surveys, coastal monitoring, DTM generation, 3D orthophoto for archaeology and architecture.

The company is involved in :

  • Land surveying, where the scanner can replace and improve registration means,
  • in geotechnical science, for monitoring landslide and Rockfalls,
  • for  Cultural Heritage , archaeology and monuments,
  • before operations of planning, particularly for marine construction, coastal engineering, urban planning, or 3D modeling projects,
  • for industry, for control of parts or modeling sites.

3D mobile scanning

ATM3D has developed its own mobile 3D scanning system.

The system is easily transferable from one vehicle to another. It is possible to perform either stop-and-go panoramic 3D scans, or mobile profiling scans.

When the GPS constellation is good, the system allows registration of 3D point clouds to an accuracy of 3 to 5cm.

The synchronization of photo shooting is operational in August 2009. It includes the installation of a 12 megapixel camera on the mobile system, its calibration (distortion, relative orientation), its synchronization with the laser system and the implementation of a software that manage stereoscopic views.

The system is particularly relevant for fast 3D scanning in urban environments and long linear features (roads, tunnels, sea walls, canals).

3D scanning

3D scanning is a new technology based on the latest generation of measuring tools used in the fields of land surveying, metrology and architectural modeling.

A 3D scanner is an instrument that can record millions of 3D points in a few minutes, with an accuracy of a few millimeters and a density up to more than one point every millimeter.

ATM3D uses Riegl LMS Z420i, LMS Z390 and LMS Z390i for long range scannings, and a Minolta VI910 for close range measurements.
The range and accuracy of these devices allows us to choose the best performance for 3D acquisition.

Processing is also our speciality. We can deliver very fine and accurate maps (cross sections, contour lines, 3D restitution), dense 3D mesh models, As-built models, or accurate analysis (volume balance, movement and deformation measurement by comparing pointclouds.

Special works - Land surveying, GPS, Bathymetry, Photogrammetry

Through the use of mountaineering or speleological techniques, ATM3D can implement its scanners in extreme acrobatic conditions. Meanwhile, to meet the needs of its customers, the company has developed a number of specific works by conducting special surveys with total stations, GPS, bathymetry or photogrammetry means. The company is able to combine data from underground, terrestrial, aerial and offshore surveys, to produce a global topographic documentation of a project.

Assistance and training

We do not hesitate to share our experience : technical development, operational assistance, advising on hardware and software. For instance, we have designed a protocol for the long-range 3D survey of the towers of nuclear power plants. We have also managed and trained an American team from the University of Texas on how to scan "Pointe du Hoc" cliffs in Normandy.
